Offered by Anne Marie Rasmussen of Oakglen Kennels and Paws in Style Dog Grooming in Hubley (Near Halifax) and previously of Creature Comforts Inn in Ontario.

This will be a 3 month one-on-one basic grooming course. Student at the end of the three month should be ready for an entry level professional grooming position.

Curriculum includes:

I. Introduction to grooming shop

a) Equipment, uses and maintenance

b) Products

c) Set up of grooming shop

d) Record keeping and pricing

e) Client relations

II. Introduction to pet grooming

a) Breeds, recognition and history (pertaining to grooming requirements)

b) Basic brushing, dematting techniques, bathing, nail clipping, ear cleaning and drying.

c) Clippering and scissoring.

d) Patterns and styling

e) Health care - recognition of common skin and health ailments, parasite recognition and control.

f) Cat grooming - brushing, dematting, clipping, bathing, defleaing and nail trimming

III. Practical supervised work in grooming shop
